VisitBYD Becomes 7th Largest Automaker, Partners with Huawei for Bao 8 Autonomous Tech
Aug 27, 2024, 03:50 AM
China's BYD has overtaken Honda and Nissan to become the world's seventh-largest automaker by the number of cars sold in the April-June quarter of 2024. This achievement is driven by a 40% increase in vehicle sales, bolstered by strong demand for its affordable electric vehicles. BYD sold 980,000 vehicles in the second quarter, including 105,000 units outside China, as it targets further growth by challenging Ford's market position. Additionally, BYD has entered into a partnership with Huawei to integrate Huawei's advanced autonomous driving system into its off-road electric vehicles. The collaboration will see the Fangchengbao brand's Bao 8 model equipped with Huawei's ADS 3.0 system, marking a strategic move to enhance BYD's capabilities in the smart driving sector.
