Brazilian Scientist Rogério Cerqueira Leite Dies at 93 in Campinas, São Paulo

Renowned Brazilian scientist Rogério Cerqueira Leite passed away at the age of 93 in Campinas, São Paulo. Known for his significant contributions to science, technology, and innovation in Brazil, Cerqueira Leite was a graduate of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) and held a doctorate from the University of Paris. He served as a professor emeritus at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) and was instrumental in the establishment of the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). His death was mourned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who highlighted Cerqueira Leite's scientific and social legacy.
