Blue Origin Receives License for New Glenn Tests November 1-19, 2024 Amid Untreated Industrial Wastewater Concerns

Blue Origin Florida, LLC has been granted a license to conduct test verification and validation for its New Glenn Program from November 1 to November 19, 2024. The company is cleared to test using clean water, which reduces heat damage, acoustic impact, and debris. However, due to regulatory complications, the use of clean water is now classified as 'industrial wastewater,' leading to challenges for the company. Additionally, Blue Origin received a Warning Letter from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) for discharging untreated industrial wastewater during a static fire test of its GS2 rocket in September. The FDEP is currently investigating the incident to determine further actions.
