VisitSyrian Rebels Swiftly Enter Homs, Threatening Assad's Regime
Dec 7, 2024, 10:41 PM
Syrian rebels, led by opposition commander Hassan Abdul-Ghani, have reportedly entered the city of Homs, marking a significant advance that could potentially split President Bashar al-Assad's regime in two. According to Abdul-Ghani, his forces have also taken control of Deraa, Quneitra, Sweida, and Homs within a 24-hour period. This rapid advance aims to liberate the entire Damascus countryside before moving towards the capital itself. The entry into Homs, if confirmed, represents a major threat to Assad's rule, as Homs is the last major city before Damascus. A war monitor has also reported the rebels' swift movement into Homs.
