Sep 23, 2024, 07:49 PM
Archaeologists have used AI technology to discover over 300 new geoglyphs in Peru's Nazca Desert. These geoglyphs, smaller versions of the famous Nazca lines at the UN-designated World Heritage Site, were revealed through an AI-accelerated survey conducted by researchers from Yamagata University and IBM Watson. The survey uncovered 303 new geoglyphs, nearly doubling the number of known geoglyphs and providing new insights into their purpose. Some of the newly discovered geoglyphs feature intriguing designs, such as killer whales holding knives. This discovery highlights the potential of AI in uncovering historical artifacts and understanding ancient cultures.
