AMD Unveils New Turin and MI325X AI Chips to Challenge Nvidia

AMD has unveiled new AI-focused chips at its 'Advancing AI' event in San Francisco. The company introduced the EPYC 'Turin' chip, which features up to 192 processor cores and is built on the Zen 5 architecture, offering a 37% speed gain for advanced AI data crunching. Additionally, AMD launched the Instinct MI325X GPU, designed to rival Nvidia's upcoming Blackwell chips. The MI325X will begin production in Q4 2024, with mass production set to start in Q1 2025. AMD CEO Lisa Su, who spoke at the event at 12PM ET, aims to challenge Nvidia's dominance in the AI processor market with these new products. The company forecasts the data center AI market to grow to $500 billion by 2028.
