Amazon Expands Project Kuiper with New Everett Facility, Creating 200 Jobs, Building 5 Satellites Daily
May 14, 2024, 01:00 PM
Amazon's Project Kuiper is expanding its footprint in Washington with a new facility in Everett, aiming to streamline the manufacturing of thousands of satellites. The initiative includes a logistics site and a training program in partnership with Lake Washington Institute of Technology to prepare future satellite technicians. The new Everett facility is expected to create over 200 skilled jobs as satellite production ramps up. Additionally, Project Kuiper's full-rate factory in Kirkland, a 172,000-square-foot facility, is now operational and capable of building up to five satellites per day at peak capacity. Amazon plans to use the satellite network for various applications, including cars, ships, and planes, to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband services. This expansion is a significant development for the Puget Sound region.
