Allu Arjun Arrested Over Fatal Stampede at Sandhya Theatre During 'Pushpa 2' Premiere
Dec 13, 2024, 08:10 AM
Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with a tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of his latest film, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'. The arrest followed a stampede that occurred when a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Arjun, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and her son being hospitalized in critical condition. The police have charged Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. Arjun's unscheduled appearance at the theatre, without prior intimation to the authorities, was cited as a contributing factor to the chaos. The actor has since expressed his condolences and pledged financial support to the victim's family. Arjun's legal team has approached the Telangana High Court to quash the FIR lodged against him, with a hearing scheduled for the afternoon. Arjun's father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, his father Allu Aravind, his brother Allu Sirish, and film producer Dil Raju were also present at the police station following his arrest. Additionally, actor Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha visited Arjun's residence after the incident.
