Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with a tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere of his latest film, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule,' at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident, which took place on December 4, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi and left her nine-year-old son critically injured. Allu Arjun was taken into custody from his residence amid tight security and was brought to Chikkadpally Police Station. The police have registered a case under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Besides Allu Arjun, his security team and the theatre management are also named in the case. Following his arrest, Allu Arjun underwent a medical check-up at Gandhi Hospital and was later produced in Nampally Sessions Court, where he was sent to 14-day judicial custody. The actor expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh to support them. The stampede was reportedly triggered by a large crowd trying to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, leading to chaos as fans surged towards the actor upon his arrival at the theatre.
