Aeon to Raise Part-Time Wages by 7% for 420,000 Workers in 2025 Spring Negotiations

Aeon Co., Japan's largest employer, is set to increase the hourly wages of its part-time workers by an average of 7% as part of its adjustments for the 2025 spring labor negotiations. This decision, announced on December 30, 2024, aims to address rising living costs and enhance workforce retention. Aeon employs approximately 420,000 part-time workers across about 150 companies within its group, making it the largest employer in the country. The initiative reflects a broader trend in Japan, where around 65% of companies are hiring foreign workers to mitigate labor shortages, according to a recent government survey reported by Kyodo News.
