Aaron Judge Wins Second AL MVP Unanimously, Joining Mickey Mantle in Yankees History
Nov 21, 2024, 11:52 PM
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge has been unanimously named the 2024 American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP), securing his second MVP award in three seasons. Judge became the seventh player in Yankees history to win multiple MVP awards and only the second Yankee, after Mickey Mantle in 1956, to win the award unanimously. He is also the first Yankees captain to win the MVP since Thurman Munson. Judge led Major League Baseball in home runs and runs batted in (RBIs), hitting 58 home runs and driving in 144 runs with a .322 batting average during the 2024 season. His exceptional performance, considered the greatest offensive season by a right-handed batter based on OPS+, helped the Yankees reach their first World Series since 2009.
