Taiwan's defense ministry reported that a Chinese aircraft carrier group, led by the Liaoning, sailed through waters northeast of Taiwan and continued towards Japan's Yonaguni Island on Wednesday. This marks the first time a Chinese naval formation has entered Japan's contiguous waters, according to Japan's defense ministry and NHK reports. The group, which included two missile destroyers, was also spotted between the Japanese islands of Yonaguni and Iriomote.
