Democrat LaMonica McIver, a Newark official, has won the special House election in New Jersey's 10th Congressional District, defeating Republican Carmen Bucco. McIver will serve out the remainder of the late Rep. Donald Payne Jr.'s term. The election saw McIver leading by 69.3 points with over 80% of precincts reporting. This district, which Joe Biden won by 62.5 points in 2020, includes counties such as Essex, Union, and Hudson. Early and mail voting results showed a strong Democratic lead, with highly educated, high-income white precincts particularly favoring McIver. On Election Day, McIver led by 83% to 14%.
