Israel's Massive Airstrikes Use Bunker Busters to Target Hezbollah's Hashem Safieddine, Nasrallah's Cousin, in Beirut
Oct 3, 2024, 09:45 PM
Israel launched massive airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, specifically targeting the Dahieh area, reportedly aiming at Hashem Safieddine, a senior Hezbollah official and cousin of Hassan Nasrallah. Safieddine, who heads Hezbollah's Executive Council and is considered a potential successor to Nasrallah, was believed to be in a deep-underground bunker along with his family. The airstrikes employed bunker buster bombs to target the bunker. Israeli Channel 14, Axios reporter Barak Ravid, and other media outlets reported on the attack, though these reports have not been verified. Reports suggest that Safieddine may have been eliminated in the attack.
