Travis Hunter Favored to Win 2024 Heisman Trophy
Dec 13, 2024, 09:00 PM
Colorado Buffaloes' Travis Hunter, a standout two-way player, has emerged as the favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Hunter, who plays both wide receiver and cornerback, has had an exceptional season, contributing significantly to Colorado's turnaround from one of the worst teams in college football to a ranked squad. His accolades include winning the Chuck Bednarik Award for the nation's best defensive player and the Fred Biletnikoff Award for the most outstanding receiver. Hunter's performance has been pivotal in the Buffaloes' success, with his coach, Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, leading the team to a 9-3 record and a bowl game appearance. Despite speculation about Sanders' future, Hunter has confirmed that the coach will remain with Colorado for at least another season. Hunter's teammates and competitors, including Boise State's Ashton Jeanty, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, and Miami's Cam Ward, also had remarkable seasons, but Hunter's unique contribution on both sides of the ball has set him apart. The Heisman Trophy ceremony, where the winner will be announced, is scheduled to air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
