Kenya's Beatrice Chebet, the double Olympic champion in the 5000m and 10,000m at the Paris Olympics, has set a new world record in the women's 5km road race, finishing in 13:52 at the Cursa dels Nassos race in Barcelona. This performance marks her as the first woman to break the 14-minute barrier for the distance, surpassing her own previous record of 14:13 set at the same event in 2023 by 19 seconds. The record is subject to the usual ratification procedure by World Athletics.
