Elon Musk, the world's richest person, spent over $274 million to support Donald Trump's successful 2024 presidential campaign, making him America's biggest political donor, according to newly released campaign finance filings. The filings reveal that Musk contributed $239 million to America PAC and more than $20 million to the mysterious RBG PAC, which was formed less than a month before the election. Musk was the sole funder of RBG PAC through his Elon Musk Revocable Trust and used alias LLCs like "United States of America Inc" for some donations. RBG PAC ran ads portraying Trump's position on abortion as aligned with that of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, aiming to appeal to voters concerned about abortion rights. Musk's significant financial support underscores the influence of wealthy individuals in U.S. elections.
