Grace Ocean, Synergy Marine to Pay $102 Million After Key Bridge Collapse That Killed Six
Oct 24, 2024, 09:33 PM
Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and Synergy Marine Group, the Singaporean owner and operator of the cargo ship DALI that caused the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge in March, have agreed to pay $101,980,000 in a settlement announced by the U.S. Department of Justice. The settlement, which comes a month after the Justice Department sued the companies, resolves a civil lawsuit seeking to recover costs incurred by the federal government in responding to the incident, including clearing underwater debris and restoring access to the Port of Baltimore. The settlement does not cover the cost of replacing the bridge, and the funds will not go toward rebuilding the Key Bridge. Six people were killed in the collapse.
