Maryland Awards Kiewit Contract to Rebuild Key Bridge After Deadly Collapse
Aug 29, 2024, 04:10 PM
Maryland has taken the initial step towards reconstructing the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed after being struck by a massive container ship. The Maryland Transportation Authority awarded a contract to Kiewit, a Nebraska-based construction company, for the first phase of the rebuilding project. The decision was made on Thursday, several months after the 1.6-mile steel span's deadly collapse. This move marks the beginning of efforts to replace the key infrastructure in Baltimore.
