Rutgers Defeats Washington 21-18 in Big Ten Clash, Starts Season 4-0
Sep 28, 2024, 03:43 AM
Rutgers University secured a significant victory over the University of Washington, winning 21-18 in Piscataway, NJ. The Scarlet Knights, now 4-0 for the first time since 2012, capitalized on Washington's unforced errors and lack of discipline in their first Big Ten road game. Despite being outgained 522-299 in total yards, Rutgers made fewer mistakes and converted 7 of 15 third downs compared to Washington's 2 of 12. The game concluded dramatically with Washington's Grady Gross missing a 55-yard field goal attempt that would have sent the game into overtime. Will Rogers threw for 306 yards and 2 touchdowns, Jonah Coleman rushed for 148 yards, and Denzel Boston caught 6 passes for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. This win sets up a potentially special season for Rutgers under head coach Greg Schiano.
