Russian Drone Crashes in Latvia, NATO Investigates Accidental Entry
Sep 8, 2024, 01:03 PM
A Russian military drone crashed in the eastern part of Latvia's Rezekne region on September 7, 2024. Preliminary assessments suggest the drone entered Latvian airspace from Belarus accidentally, with no hostile intentions detected. Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. He also emphasized the increasing number of such incidents along NATO's eastern flank and the need for a collective response. Similar incidents have been reported in Romania and Poland, where authorities are also investigating drone crashes. Estonia has expressed full support for Latvia in its investigation.
