BYU Dominates Colorado 36-14 in Record-Setting Alamo Bowl with 8 Million Viewers and Capacity Crowd
Dec 31, 2024, 07:27 PM
The Alamo Bowl featuring No. 17 BYU and No. 23 Colorado set a new record for viewership, drawing an audience of 8 million viewers on ABC. This game, which took place on December 28, 2024, surpassed the previous record of 7.829 million set by the Michigan State-Texas Tech game in 2010. The matchup was the most-watched non-College Football Playoff/New Year’s Six bowl game since the Alabama-Michigan Citrus Bowl in January 2020. BYU secured a decisive victory over Colorado with a final score of 36-14, marking their second consecutive bowl win and third in the last four appearances. The game was attended by a capacity crowd of 64,261 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The viewership for the Alamo Bowl was notably higher than that of other major sporting events, including the 2024 NBA Finals games and regular season games of MLB and NBA. BYU finished the season with an 11-2 record, while Colorado ended with a 9-4 record. BYU's LJ Martin rushed for two touchdowns, and Parker Kingston returned a punt for a touchdown. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders was sacked three times, and Travis Hunter recorded four receptions for 106 yards.
