VisitIRGC Hackers Breach Trump Campaign, Target Biden and Utah
Aug 23, 2024, 12:20 PM
U.S. intelligence agencies have accused Iranian state actors of attempting to infiltrate both the Trump and Biden presidential campaigns. The Iranian hacking team, known for its expertise in cyberespionage, has been reported to place surveillance software on mobile devices, which allows them to record calls, steal texts, and activate cameras and microphones. The group, identified as the IRGC hacker group, successfully breached Donald Trump's campaign and also attempted to hack multiple Utah government sites, targeting geological data, oil, gas, and other resources. These actions are part of a broader effort by Iran to interfere in the U.S. election through online disinformation and influence operations.
