Emory University has disclosed holding nearly 2.7 million shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust, valued at approximately $15.1 million as of September 30, 2023. This disclosure was made in an October 25 SEC filing. Emory University is the first academic institution to publicly report holdings in a Bitcoin ETF, valued at $15.8 million. The university's endowment is part of the growing trend of institutional investments in Bitcoin ETFs, which now includes various types of institutions such as endowments, banks, hedge funds, insurance companies, advisors, pensions, private equity, holding companies, venture capital, trusts, family offices, and brokerages. College endowments collectively hold $840 billion in assets.
