Nationals Win MLB Draft Lottery for Third No. 1 Pick
Dec 10, 2024, 10:47 PM
The Washington Nationals have won the MLB Draft Lottery and will select first in the 2025 MLB Draft. This marks the third time the Nationals will pick first overall, having previously selected Stephen Strasburg in 2009 and Bryce Harper in 2010. The Nationals had a 10.2% chance of securing the top pick and are expected to select top prospect Ethan Holliday. The Los Angeles Angels, represented by AGM David Haynes and holding an 18% chance, will pick second. The Seattle Mariners, with just a 6% chance, secured the third pick and will add over $4.5 million to their 2025 draft pool. Despite entering with the best odds (22.5%) for the No. 1 pick, the Colorado Rockies and Miami Marlins fell to the fourth and seventh picks, respectively. The Toronto Blue Jays, represented by former player Vernon Wells and with a 7.48% chance, will pick eighth. The MLB Draft Lottery, in its third year, was held in Dallas and sets the order for the 2025 MLB Draft.
