Elon Musk's Starlink has played a crucial role in restoring communication in areas affected by Hurricane Helene. Over 1,000 Starlink kits have been deployed in North Carolina, enabling vital connectivity for emergency services and residents. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol credited Starlink for their ability to communicate post-hurricane. Additionally, 72 Starlink units were donated to Georgia, and efforts are underway in East Tennessee with 20 more units arriving. The direct-to-cell service provided by Starlink, in collaboration with T-Mobile, has been particularly effective in these hurricane-stricken areas. SpaceX engineer Mike Coryell has been instrumental in these efforts. Notably, there has been an absence of FEMA presence in some areas, and organizations like Samaritan's Purse have been involved in the recovery efforts.
