Biden Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Storm Recovery in Connecticut and Illinois
Sep 20, 2024, 08:50 PM
President Joe Biden has approved a Major Disaster Declaration to provide federal assistance for recovery efforts in areas impacted by severe storms from July 13 to July 16. This includes Connecticut's Litchfield, New Haven, and Fairfield counties, which have been granted Individual Assistance. Homeowners in these areas can now apply for funding and resources by calling 1-800-621-3362 or using the FEMA app. The declaration also covers Cook, Fulton, Henry, St. Clair, Washington, Will, and Winnebago counties in Illinois. Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy has been in constant contact with FEMA and the White House to ensure the approval of this disaster declaration, which will help those impacted by last month's flash flood.
