VisitWNBA Sees Record Attendance and TV Viewership in 26 Years, Averaging 1.32 Million Viewers

The WNBA has experienced a historic start to its 2024 season, achieving the highest attendance in 26 years and record-breaking TV viewership. Approximately 400,000 fans attended games in the first month, with more than 50% of games being sellouts. This marks a 156% increase in attendance from the previous year, with arenas filled to 94% capacity. The WNBA's televised games have also seen a significant rise in viewership, averaging 1.32 million viewers across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and CBS, nearly tripling last season's average of 462,000 viewers. Additionally, the WNBA online store has set a record for the most single-season sales in history, with overall transactions up. The league has also noted an increase in viewership among Hispanic and Black fans, contributing to a more diverse audience.
