Whooping Cough Cases Surge to Record 17,600 in US
Oct 12, 2024, 03:31 PM
Whooping cough is spreading nationwide at the highest levels since 2014, with experts expressing concern that the outbreak could worsen in the fall and winter. Cases have surged more than 340% over this time last year, reaching over 17,600 infections in the US. Pennsylvania has been particularly affected, with nearly 2,200 residents infected, outpacing every other state. The CDC says the number of cases has reached record levels, with four times as many cases compared to last year.
