Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. The decision to waive any penalty was announced on January 10, 2025, just days before Trump's scheduled inauguration on January 20. Despite the conviction, Trump will enter the White House as the first president in U.S. history to have been criminally convicted, albeit with a symbolic sentence.
