Somali and Jubaland Forces Repel al-Shabaab Attacks, Over 80 Militants Killed

Somali authorities in Jubaland reported that federal and regional forces repulsed three separate, coordinated attacks by al-Shabaab militants on newly captured areas west and south of Kismayo. The Somali government claimed over 80 al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the clashes, which occurred early on Monday. The attacks targeted Bulo Haji, Harbole, Bar Sanguni, and Mido. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed about 71 soldiers in the attacks.
