Indian Artillery Shells Diverted to Ukraine for Over a Year Despite Russian Protests
Sep 19, 2024, 07:45 AM
Artillery shells sold by Indian arms manufacturers have been diverted by European customers to Ukraine, despite protests from Moscow. According to multiple sources, including Indian and European government and defense industry officials, New Delhi has not intervened to halt this trade. The transfer of ammunition has been ongoing for over a year, with countries such as the Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy involved in redirecting the shells to Ukraine. The diverted shells include 155mm, 125mm, and 120mm types. The Kremlin has raised the issue with Indian officials at least twice, but India views the situation as a commercial opportunity to expand its arms export sector.
