VisitIndian Artillery Shells Diverted to Ukraine for Over a Year Despite Russian Protests
Sep 19, 2024, 07:45 AM
Artillery shells sold by Indian arms manufacturers have been diverted by European customers to Ukraine, despite protests from Moscow. The trade has been ongoing for over a year, with countries such as Italy, the Czech Republic, and Spain involved in the diversion. This includes 155mm, 125mm, and 120mm shells. New Delhi has not intervened to stop this trade, viewing it as a commercial opportunity to expand its arms export sector. The Kremlin has raised the issue at least twice with Indian officials, but India has continued its stance, officially denying direct arms deliveries while allowing the sales to European buyers who then send the ammunition to Ukraine.
