Woman Dies Wednesday Morning After Being Struck by Falling Tree in D.C.'s Garfield Park

A woman tragically died on Wednesday morning after being struck by a falling tree in Garfield Park, located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred when a massive tree branch collapsed, trapping the woman who was believed to be walking her dog. Despite efforts from people in the area and first responders, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The D.C. Fire and EMS Department confirmed the fatality and conducted additional searches, finding no other patients. Local officials, including D.C. Councilmember Charles Allen, have called for a review and assessment of all large trees in Garfield Park to prevent future incidents.
