Leo Nunes Among Victims in Deadly Dating App Attacks in São Paulo

In Brazil, a series of deadly attacks targeting gay men using dating apps have been reported. On June 12, Leo Nunes, a 24-year-old, was shot dead in São Paulo after meeting someone from Hornet, a popular gay dating app. Nunes is among at least five gay men killed in Brazil since March 2024 through encounters arranged via dating apps. The incidents highlight a concerning trend of violence against the LGBTQ+ community in the country, with criminals using dating platforms to lure and attack victims. Security footage captured the moment when two men on a motorcycle approached Nunes, stole his phone, and fatally shot him.
