U.S. Imposes Sanctions on 400 Entities, Including Hong Kong and China Firms, Supporting Russia's War Effort
Aug 23, 2024, 04:43 PM
The United States has imposed sweeping sanctions on nearly 400 individuals and entities both in Russia and outside its borders, including in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. These sanctions target those whose products and services enable Russia to sustain its war effort in Ukraine and evade international sanctions. The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of State announced these measures, which include sanctions on more than 20 firms based in Hong Kong and China. The sanctions aim to disrupt supply and procurement chains of military goods, technology, and hardware, as well as networks enabling sanctions evasion and Russia's mining sector. This action comes as part of a broader multilateral sanctions campaign against Russia, coinciding with Ukraine's Independence Day.
