September 2024 Ranked Second-Warmest Globally, 2024 Set to Be Hottest Year, Says EU Copernicus
Oct 8, 2024, 09:38 AM
On Tuesday, the EU climate monitor Copernicus reported that September 2024 was the second-warmest September ever registered globally, surpassed only by September 2023. This development positions 2024 as an "almost certain" candidate to become the hottest year on record. The global average dew point for September 2024 was the second highest on record for that month, just behind last September's exceptional record. Remarkably, 13.5% of the globe experienced their highest September dew point values.
