Disney, Fox, WBD Scrap $42.99/Month Venu Sports Service Before Launch
Jan 10, 2025, 01:49 PM
Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery have jointly decided to discontinue Venu Sports, their proposed sports streaming service, before its launch, effective immediately. In a joint statement, the companies said, "After careful consideration, we have collectively agreed to discontinue the Venu Sports joint venture and not launch the streaming service." They added, "In an ever-changing marketplace, we determined that it was best to meet the evolving demands of sports fans by focusing on existing products and distribution channels." Venu Sports was intended to bundle ESPN, TNT, and Fox Sports into a new app, offering a comprehensive sports streaming platform at a cost of $42.99 per month. The decision follows Disney's agreement to take a stake in the Fubo streaming service, which had previously sued the companies over the Venu venture.
