Blue Origin Secures Launch Deal for 60 Satellites with AST SpaceMobile's New Glenn Rocket, First Launch in 2024
Nov 14, 2024, 11:15 PM
Blue Origin has secured a launch contract with AST SpaceMobile to deploy its next-generation BlueBird satellites using the New Glenn rocket. The deal aims to facilitate the launch of approximately 60 satellites over the next few years, with the first launch of New Glenn still on track for 2024. The Cape Canaveral Florida Space Force Station will host the launch campaign, which is scheduled for 2025 and 2026. Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket will carry eight satellites per launch, while AST SpaceMobile will also utilize SpaceX's Falcon 9 and ISRO's GSLV for additional satellite deployments. This partnership positions Blue Origin to compete in the burgeoning market for space-based cellular services, challenging established players like SpaceX.
