Xiaomi Achieves Milestone with 3nm Smartphone Chip

Xiaomi has achieved a significant milestone in the technology sector by completing the tape-out of its first-ever 3nm smartphone System on Chip (SoC). This development is seen as a strategic move that could challenge the dominance of U.S. tech giants like Apple and Qualcomm. The new chip is expected to be featured in Xiaomi's latest flagship phone series, which will be more expensive due to the advanced technology. The achievement has been confirmed by Tang Jianguo, chief economist at the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology. This comes amid a broader trend of rising smartphone prices, particularly for non-Apple devices, as advanced application processors command higher prices. For example, China's Vivo has released its latest X200 smartphone series at a price 7.5% higher than expected due to the inclusion of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip.
