Waymo has made significant progress in commercializing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, currently serving over 50,000 rides a week across San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, with plans to expand to Austin. New data reveals that the Waymo Driver has driven over 14.8 million rider-only miles through the end of March, demonstrating superior safety performance compared to human drivers. The Waymo Driver is 3.5 times better at avoiding crashes that cause injuries and twice as good at avoiding police-reported crashes.
