Hurricane Beryl made landfall near Matagorda, Texas, early Monday morning around 4 a.m. as a Category 1 storm with sustained winds of 80 mph. The storm, which had strengthened over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, brought life-threatening storm surge, heavy rainfall, and damaging winds to the Texas Gulf Coast.
