NATO to Deploy Unmanned Naval Drones in Baltic and Mediterranean Seas for Infrastructure Protection
Dec 4, 2024, 01:38 PM
NATO is developing plans for its first-ever fleet of unmanned naval vehicles aimed at safeguarding critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas. This initiative comes in response to a series of incidents involving damage to undersea cables in European waters. The drones will be utilized for both surface and underwater surveillance, leveraging unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) to enhance security. The announcement was made by NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Pierre Vandier.
