VisitWorld's Largest Single-Dish FAST Telescope Surpasses 1,000 Pulsar Discoveries
Nov 26, 2024, 09:00 AM
China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world's largest single-dish radio telescope located in Guizhou, has surpassed a significant milestone by discovering over 1,000 new pulsars since October 2017. This achievement exceeds the total number of pulsars identified by other international telescopes during the same period, including a large number of millisecond pulsars and pulsar binaries. The National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced this breakthrough on Tuesday, highlighting the telescope's contribution to the field of astronomy.
