Wendy Williams Denies Cognitive Impairment, Calls Guardianship 'Prison' on The Breakfast Club
Jan 16, 2025, 05:45 PM
Wendy Williams, the former host of 'The Wendy Williams Show,' has spoken out against her guardianship, describing it as feeling like a 'prison.' In a call to 'The Breakfast Club' radio show, Williams, who has been under guardianship since 2022 following a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, denied being cognitively impaired. She expressed frustration over her isolation in a New York care facility, where she resides among much older residents and takes 7 daily pills without knowing their purpose. Williams' niece, Alex Finnie, supported her aunt's claims, describing the facility as a 'luxury prison' and alleging that Williams is being emotionally abused, with no internet access and having spent her last 3 birthdays alone. The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $50,000 to help bring Williams back to Florida, where they believe she can be better supported by loved ones. Williams' guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has been criticized by Williams and her family, with Morrissey's attorney defending the guardianship as necessary due to Williams' health condition. Williams also revealed she currently has only $15 in her bank account under the guardianship.
