A full recount is underway in the Basildon and Billericay constituency where Conservative Party Chairman Richard Holden is in a tight race to retain his seat. The contest, which has become a three-way marginal involving Labour and Reform, is extremely close with only 20 votes separating the candidates. Voter turnout for the election was reported at 57.26%. Holden is defending a previous majority of 20,412 votes (46%). The result is expected soon, and the recount has been confirmed by multiple sources. The exit poll had predicted an intensely close result in this Essex constituency.
