IMF and Ukraine Reach Preliminary $1.1 Billion Deal After Staff-Level Review on Sept. 10
Sep 11, 2024, 06:16 AM
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Ukraine have reached a preliminary agreement that will provide Ukraine with access to approximately $1.1 billion in financial assistance. This agreement follows a staff-level review of Ukraine's loan program and is part of the fifth revision of a $15.6 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) loan program initiated in March 2023. The funding is contingent on Ukraine meeting specific conditions, including tax reforms, collaboration with Ukrenergo, and an audit of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). The IMF confirmed on Sept. 10 that Ukraine has met all quantitative criteria and structural benchmarks necessary to receive this sixth tranche of funding.
