Kremlin Announces Return of Russian Spies' Children in US Prisoner Exchange on Thursday
Aug 2, 2024, 10:30 AM
The Kremlin announced that two children of Russian deep-cover spies, Anna and Artem Dultsev, were returned to Russia as part of a prisoner exchange with the United States on Thursday. The exchange was negotiated by Russia's FSB security service and the US Central Intelligence Agency. The children, who were raised under a cover identity as Argentine citizens in Slovenia, only learned of their Russian nationality when their plane took off from Ankara. They do not speak Russian, prompting President Vladimir Putin to greet them in Spanish upon their arrival in Moscow. Peskov noted that the Dultsevs were sentenced to prison terms in Slovenia for espionage.
