VisitBrazil's President Lula, 79, in ICU After Emergency Brain Surgery to Drain Hemorrhage from October Fall
Dec 10, 2024, 08:37 AM
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 79, underwent emergency brain surgery early Tuesday morning to drain an intracranial hemorrhage at the Sírio-Libanês hospital in São Paulo. After experiencing headaches in Brasília, he was admitted to the hospital where medical imaging revealed the bleeding, a consequence of a domestic accident on October 19. President Lula was transferred to São Paulo for the procedure, a craniotomy to remove a subdural hematoma, which was completed without complications. He is currently in the intensive care unit under observation and is reported to be in good condition.
