Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Files Articles of Impeachment Against Justices Thomas and Alito Over Financial Disclosures
Jul 10, 2024, 05:28 PM
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. The charges focus on their financial disclosures and failure to recuse themselves from cases with potential conflicts of interest. Co-sponsors of the articles include Reps. Lee (Calif.), Tlaib, Watson Coleman, Ramirez (Ill.), Frost, Omar, and Bowman. The articles allege that Thomas received luxury vacations from billionaire GOP donor Harlan Crow for decades, while Alito has taken gifts from billionaire and GOP megadonor Paul Singer. Ocasio-Cortez filed three articles against Thomas and two against Alito. Despite the move, the articles stand little chance of passing in the Republican-controlled House.
